We usually travel with our wheeled luggage, but we also carry a smaller tote for smaller items we use frequently. Our wheeled luggage mainly stores all of our clothes and overnight toiletries – so why do we need a small carry-on tote? When you travel it is convenient to have items you may need on the go just a zipper away unlike having to lay your luggage on the ground in the airport and dig through it to find a small item. We don’t ever want to be those people.
Our Favorite Tote Bag for Travel
We always put our computer & iPad in our carry-on tote for fast access. Most of the time going through security at airports you will have to get your laptop or iPad out and place it in its own tub to go through the scanner. You don’t want to have to open up your luggage at security and dig through everything in the chaos of taking off your shoes, jackets, belts, etc. Placing computers/iPad in our totes makes for a smooth transition when needing it during security checks or to access once we get to the gate and wait for our flight. We see so many people put their laptops in the front zipper of their wheeled luggage only to forget to take it out before the boarding process they then once they get settled in to their seat on the plane they have to wait for an opening in the line of people trying to get to their seats, get their luggage out, possibly lose their luggage spot in the overhead, and hold up the boarding process trying to get their electronics out . It’s way easier to have everything you are going to need inflight in a tote bag under the seat in front of you.
Chargers go hand in hand with your computer/iPad/phone while traveling. We store any sort of chargers in our tote for fast and convenient access. Sometimes we don’t notice when our devices our running out of charge so having our chargers handy makes it easier for us to charge on the go. We love our portable charging banks. We always try to avoid charging in public places because everyone is trying to do the same and a lot of the time you can’t be right next to your electronic and have to keep an eye on it. We both actually have gone one step further and have a charging cases for our iphones and let me tell you its a life saver! Not only do we get to avoid looking for outlets all the time, it also lets us enjoy the now and live in the moment without worrying about our phones dying or looking for outlets.
Our Charging Must-Haves
Another item we carry is general medicines and prescriptions in case we get sick. You never know what may hit you especially traveling to other countries and being exposed to different foods and bacteria. Loren gets migraines that are triggered by not eating properly and bad sleeping schedules so we always make sure to keep her migraine pills handy. We also make sure to always have picot and pepto. Nothing is more annoying than a tummy ache or acid reflux. Such an easy fix and it usually is so easy to pack because it comes in tables and powder.
Easy Packable Medicine
Staying hydrated when traveling is very important. You don’t realize how much traveling dries you out until your lips start to crack. Chapstick is so essential to carry in your tote! Having chapped lips is a constant annoyance. It is a small item, but trust us it is a necessity when traveling. Our bodies get dehydrated when flying so we try to counter it by drinking plenty of water. We don’t usually use lotion on a daily basis, but when we are flying we always make sure to have some especially because the plane soap and all the hand sanitizer we use dries out our hands. We also love to drink the liquid IV powder in our water it seems to really help keeping us hydrated.
Our Hydrating Must-Haves
Your tote bag will essentially become your purse while traveling. You will want to keep all of your important items in your tote like your passport, money or debit cards for the airport. But make sure to pack your purse or backpack in your luggage to have when you land and explore your destination.
Our Important Items
Last but not least we like to place our favorite snacks in our tote. If you know us you know that we love snacks! Most people think they can’t bring food in the airport, but that couldn’t be more wrong. You can even bring an entire cake – you’ll have to put it through the security scanner belt, but if you want to or need to you can! We love to eat small portions of different kinds of foods, kind of like a snack buffet. Sometimes we crave crackers or chocolate, but then sometimes we crave cookies or even pop tarts. Having all of our snacks in our tote is super convenient because they are easily accessible and always at a hands reach.
